Position Summary:
Thermo Fisher Scientific have an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the External Reporting Team (Statutory Reporting) in Paisley. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Global Business Service (GBS) Centre which offers great career development and opportunities. The successful candidate will be a key team member of the External Reporting Team reporting to the External Reporting Senior Manager for EMEA.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the statutory reporting processes for their entities, have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize deliverables in a fast paced, often changing, environment. Experience of statutory accounting/external audit along with the ability to apply accounting principles, is essential for this role.
This highly desirable role liaises with senior leadership on a regular basis and provides exposure across the Thermo Fisher Scientific businesses that are supported by GBS.
What you will do:
· Responsible for motivating and developing a team of professional individuals.
· Oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements in Local GAAP.
· Plan, coordinate and execute against the external reporting timetable.
· Lead the completion of all statutory audits– this will involve managing a number of internal and external stakeholders.
· Review board packs and lead board meetings for approval of financial statements.
· Work with external advisers to ensure tax returns are prepared and filed on time.
· Drive standardization of processes and seek out cost-saving opportunities.
· Expert in complex technical accounting transactions.
· Ensure completion of local country statistical filing requirements.
· Work with external advisors and corporate tax to ensure all transfer pricing documentation is in place.
Who we are looking for:
· Qualified Chartered Accountant (at least 3 years post-qualified) with a strong academic background
· Finance experience in a management position responsible for statutory reporting, auditing and corporate tax.
· Strong technical orientation with an understanding of both US GAAP/IFRS – any local GAAP experience would be advantageous.
· Excellent problem solver with a focus on delivering high quality output within strict deadlines.
· Demonstrates highest level of integrity, trust and strong compliance orientation.
· Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
· Excellent stakeholder management skills.
· Proficient user of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
