This predominantly hospital-based role is ideal for a clinician with a strong interest in internal medicine and diagnostic imaging, looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and well-equipped environment. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 4–5 years’ experience in small animal practice and demonstrate confidence in managing both routine and complex medical cases. A particular passion for diagnostic imaging is highly desirable, with candidates holding (or working towards) a relevant certification strongly encouraged to apply. Working within a collaborative and highly skilled clinical team, the Senior Veterinary Surgeon will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care, while also maintaining the autonomy to work up cases independently. Although the role is primarily hospital-based, there will be occasional requirements to support across other practice sites, so flexibility is important. Key Responsibilities Manage a varied caseload, including complex medical and emergency cases Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging (ultrasound, radiography, etc.) Work independently on case work-ups while collaborating with the wider team Carry out routine and advanced abdominal surgeries Contribute to high clinical standards and continuous improvement Key Requirements Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in small animal practice Strong interest and practical experience in internal medicine and diagnostic imaging Medical or imaging certification (or working towards) desirable Confident in handling emergency and critical care cases Capable in working up complex cases independently Comfortable working primarily in a hospital environment with some flexibility across sites Experience in laparoscopic procedures (desirable but not essential) The Package Competitive salary up to £75,000 (dependent on experience) 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays Private medical insurance 3 weeks’ paid sick leave RCVS fees covered Generous CPD allowance with funded external training Colleague discount schemes Working Pattern Full-time position (40 hours per week) Flexible working options available (4 or 5-day week) The Practice The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an in-house laboratory, ECG, ultrasound, digital X-ray, endoscopy, and advanced dental equipment.
