About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be required to manage a caseload of patients.
Hours
37.5 hours a week, 5 shifts across a 7‑day period including bank holidays.
Working hours: Mon‑Fri 08:00‑16:00 or 08:00‑18:00; Sat/Sun 08:30‑16:30. 6pm finish and weekends are distributed across the rota.
Salary
Full‑time position with an annual salary up to £41,659 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
* Work within a multi‑disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
* Undertake medication rounds, assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
* Assess patient health needs using an evidence‑based framework and conduct risk assessment using sound clinical knowledge.
* Provide advice, support and information to individuals, managing a caseload of patients.
* Deliver non‑judgmental care that makes a real difference.
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required.
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders.
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision and evidence‑based care.
* Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, build strong multi‑disciplinary teams and support each other to do a great job.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse – NMC registration.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Experience working face‑to‑face with patients who have complex mental health conditions.
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse.
* Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable.
* Legal right to work in the UK, subject to additional vetting and security checks.
