The Role:
Your role will be to deliver an agreed programme of tasks to maintain and improve Staunton Country Park, so the site complies with statutory requirements, environmental and horticultural good practice, and visitor expectation.
What you’ll do:
* Line manage, develop and supervise the work of the team and/or volunteers to achieve the above.
* Work with Visitor Services and Education/Community Teams, stakeholders to deliver the Park’s Management and activity plan(s).
Work will include frequent site patrols and litter picking, site maintenance and the management of site infrastructure. Management will include horticulture-based activities including providing walks and talks in what is a public facing role with a strong focus on volunteering and community.
What we’re looking for:
The post requires a willingness to take on a wide range of support functions such as the maintenance of the workshop, both hand and power tools, and tree safety.
A basic level of certification in the use of power-tools such as chainsaws, brush-cutters and mowers or equivalent are desirable, but training will be provided to the successful candidate. You will have a basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet use and will be expected to use the County Council’s online systems.
You will possess good leadership, interpersonal skills and be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role. You will also be required to drive a Council vehicle and must hold a current full drivers’ licence. Weekend working will be required on a shared rota.
