Job Overview
The Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic (HMDN) laboratory in Nottingham, a regional centre for diagnosing and monitoring haematological malignancies, is based within Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. We provide specialist diagnostic services across the East Midlands and beyond.
An opportunity has arisen for a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join our team of scientific, administrative, and medical staff. We seek a highly motivated individual with good teamwork and communication skills, committed to a quality-driven service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform day-to-day administrative and pre-analytical duties.
2. Work in specimen reception, including booking samples, preparing bone marrow slides, and organizing sample shipments to external labs.
3. Handle administrative tasks such as data entry into the laboratory LIMS system, preparing MDTs, and managing telephone inquiries.
4. Participate in early and late shifts, with operational hours between 8am and 6pm, and core hours from 9am to 5pm.
