About the Role
A leading organisation within the pharmaceutical and life sciences domain is seeking an Analytical Laboratory Assistant to support increased laboratory workload and ongoing analytical activities. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational laboratory skills who are looking to grow within an established, fast-paced chemistry lab environment. Recent BSc graduates with relevant lab experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare laboratory solutions, standards and reagents in accordance with internal procedures.
* Conduct analytical testing (approx. 50%), supporting routine analysis and method execution.
* Assist with laboratory operations (approx. 50%), ensuring the lab remains organised, safe, and fully functional.
* Support chromatography-based activities; prior exposure to HPLC is highly beneficial.
* Maintain accurate documentation, including test records, solution logs, and workflow reports.
* Handle lab inventory management, including reagents, consumables, and equipment checks.
* Manage sample inventory, ensuring traceability and preparedness for testing.
* Participate in investigations and lab-related queries in alignment with quality standards.
* Adapt to shifting priorities and support multiple tasks depending on operational needs.
* Bring initiative to transform routine, repetitive tasks into efficient, engaging workflows.
Requirements
* BSc in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related discipline (fresh graduates welcome).
* Some hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting.
* Basic exposure to HPLC or other chromatographic techniques (advantageous).
* Strong attention to detail, with reliable documentation and organisational skills.
* Flexibility to switch between tasks and support various lab functions.
* Ability to work fully on-site in Cambridge, Monday to Friday.
* Availability to start as soon as possible (a start before Christmas is preferred).
