You’ll support the Credit Control Manager in optimising the company’s credit control function to protect cash flow, reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and minimise bad debt. Your partnership skill is key in delivering an excellent customer experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Customer Focused
* Build rapport with the Sales team to help chase collections, educate the Sales team about credit risks and ensure rigorous governance processes are followed collaboratively.
* Maintain strong relationships with customers, providing excellent service and addressing their queries or concerns related to credit matters.
* Evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers through financial analysis, credit checks and payment history review.
* Develop and implement strategies to minimise late or non-payment by customers, including initiating collection actions and negotiating payment plans.
Day‑to‑Day
* Oversee invoicing, cash application, unapplied cash resolution, payment processing, credit notes and AR reconciliations.
* Review customer ledgers with credit controllers in a timely manner and escale potential issues to the Credit Control Manager.
* Ensure receivables‑related month‑end tasks are completed accurately and on time, including adjustments and reconciliations.
* Work closely with Sales, Billing, Treasury and Finance to streamline the order-to-cash process and resolve root‑cause issues.
* Produce weekly and monthly aged debt reports.
* Produce and update credit‑control targets and ledgers weekly.
Systems and AI; Seeking Opportunities
* Monitor and analyse credit‑control processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy; seek opportunities with AI to help drive the department forward.
* Optimise the use of our newly implemented systems.
* Act as the key user in projects and share knowledge with the rest of the team.
* Coach and share best practices with the credit‑control team.
Compliance
* Adhere to credit‑control policies and procedures; ensure key business process procedures are thoroughly documented.
* Ensure compliance with Group policies and internal controls.
* Work closely with Financial Reporting to ensure all tax legislations are met, such as VAT and barter transactions.
* Assist with audits, provide documentation and support as needed.
A Little Bit About You
* Previous experience in supervising credit control or accounts receivables.
* Strong knowledge of credit‑control principles, practices and regulations.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate financial information, perform risk assessments and make informed credit decisions.
* Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
* Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively resolve conflicts.
* Experience with SAP.
* Experience using AI in a business environment would be advantageous.
