Assistant Electrical Estimator & Pre-Construction Manager

Role Overview
The Assistant Electrical Estimator & Pre-Construction Manager will play a key role in the pre-construction phase of projects, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical works. Working closely with senior management, engineers, suppliers, and clients, you will ensure all tenders and technical submissions are delivered on time and in line with project requirements and industry standards.
Following successful tenders, you will support the development of full electrical designs and technical submissions and assist with the transition from estimation to project delivery.
This role would suit an experienced electrician seeking an office-based position, an electrical graduate looking to move into contracting, or a motivated individual with some estimating experience and a strong desire to develop.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical projects across multiple sectors.
Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
Produce material and labour take-offs from drawings and specifications.
Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare and submit tender returns and supporting documentation.
Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required.
Support smooth handover of secured projects to the contracts/delivery team.
Assist in developing cost-effective electrical designs following contract award.
Maintain awareness of industry regulations, standards, and technical developments.
Person Specification
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and current regulations.
Background through site experience and/or degree-level electrical qualification.
Good understanding of commercial, industrial, and residential electrical works.
Proficient in estimation software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
Confident communicator with good negotiation ability.
Able to work independently and collaboratively.
Full UK driving licence (reasonable adjustments considered).
