Overall Purpose of the Role
As an Accountant at Compass, you will work within a financially focused team to understand key drivers of the business and support in driving improved business performance. The role involves continually improving service levels, cost effectiveness, and adding value to commercial activities.
Key Accountabilities
Purpose: Commercial Support
* Assist business partners (financial and non-financial) to ensure strong commercial and operational decision-making, managing financial risks and opportunities.
* Provide proactive ad-hoc financial analysis to support business unit decisions.
* Understand and manage financial risks and opportunities from volumetric and other contract mechanisms and ongoing business performance.
* Identify and highlight financial risks and opportunities from balance sheet management.
Performance
* Prepare key reports such as month-end reports, business reviews, client reports, budgets, cash analysis, and other ad-hoc analyses for monthly review.
* Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews, escalating risks or opportunities to senior stakeholders.
* Support the closing of monthly accounts, ensuring accurate recognition of sales and costs.
* Promote working capital improvements through timely contract billing, active debt management, and query resolution.
* Assist with budgeting and forecasting, consolidating budgets, understanding variances, and preparing presentations for senior stakeholders.
* Support documentation for client tenders, negotiations, and capital expenditure appraisals.
* Assist operational teams with mobilisation actions, ensuring timelines are met.
* Ensure health and safety of colleagues and report incidents accordingly.

Candidate Requirements: Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
* Completed first level of professional exams (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
* Passion for Finance and understanding of management accounting.
* Analytical with high attention to detail.
* Effective communicator, able to convey information clearly and logically.
Desirable:
* Ability to adapt to change.
* Good Excel skills.
* Experience with SAP, Cognos, and Quick Sights.
