About the Role
We're looking for a Watch Manager to play a vital role in firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency response at Birmingham Airport. You'll support the Duty Station Manager in leading the Rescue and Firefighting Service (RFFS), ensuring operational safety, efficiency, and professionalism at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the Duty Station Manager in overseeing RFFS operations and personnel.
* Set, monitor, and maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and discipline.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, airport regulations, and company policies.
* Respond immediately and effectively to all emergency calls and incidents.
* Maintain competence in all Fire Service equipment, procedures, and practices.
* Lead and support training, including Watch Maintenance of Competence programmes.
* Complete routine administration, reports, audits, and performance reviews.
* Act up as Station Manager when required.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience in airport, industrial, or local authority fire services.
* Qualified to (or working towards) Supervisor Level at an Approved Training Provider (ATP).
* Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
* Comprehensive knowledge of emergency and fire service procedures.
* High level of physical fitness, meeting BHX Fire & Rescue Medical Standards.
* Ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional in high-pressure situations.
* Competent in record-keeping, audits, and report writing.
* Flexible and adaptable to meet changing operational demands.
