About the Role
A well-established and growing wind turbine service and maintenance business is looking to strengthen its field team across North East Scotland with the addition of two experienced Wind Turbine Technicians. This is an opportunity to join a team that takes pride in high standards of workmanship and a strong safety culture.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for keeping client turbine assets performing at their best across a portfolio of Vestas platforms in Aberdeenshire and the surrounding region. The role involves regular travel between sites and occasional time away from home to support other regions when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled and unscheduled servicing, maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repair across a range of wind turbines and their electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
* Follow weekly, monthly and annual service schedules as directed by the operations manager, including approved overtime and working away from home as required
* Replace faulty components including sensors, control systems and gearboxes in line with established procedures and safety protocols
* Carry out preventive maintenance tasks based on manufacturer guidelines to minimise downtime and maximise turbine efficiency
* Monitor and analyse turbine performance data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement
* Manage vehicle stock levels and maintain an up to date inventory of parts, tools and consumables
* Produce accurate work, service and inspection reports in a timely manner using the company reporting systems
* Assist with turbine and component refurbishment as required
* Ensure all work is carried out in line with current health and safety guidance, site rules and regulations
* Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts inventories
* Anticipate potential site-specific problems and identify practical solutions
Essential Requirements
* A relevant technical qualification in electrical, mechanical or renewable energy engineering
* Proven experience in a similar wind turbine technician role within the renewables or wind energy industry
* Ability to pass a RUK wind industry standard medical assessment to confirm fitness for working at height
* Full UK driving licence
* Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
* Strong communication skills with the ability to report clearly to managers, clients and contractors
* Computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office and tablet-based reporting systems
* Ability and willingness to travel regularly, including occasional nights away from home

* Awareness of HV systems and apparatus
