Clinical Engineer – Worthing Hospital, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Salary: £28,392 – £31,157 per annum (pro rata). Closing date: 22/06/2026 23:59.
Provide technical support for clinical and patient‑connected medical equipment, conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, acceptance testing, and liaise with suppliers and clinical staff.
Main Duties
* Perform acceptance checks, repairs and planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of patient‑connected medical devices.
* Carry out end‑of‑life decommissioning and assistance with equipment specification, evaluation, and selection.
* Diagnose and resolve equipment faults, report unusual conditions to manufacturers.
* Calibrate, conduct quality control, safety and acceptance testing; maintain accurate records in the Clinical Engineering Database.
* Monitor stocks of components and spares, reorder where necessary.
* Liaise with manufacturers and relevant regulatory bodies (MHRA, DATIX). Prepare technical reports.
* Manage own tools and workshop facilities; ensure safety and compliance.
* Provide occasional technical advice to clinical and other staff groups; support team members within Facilities and Estates.
* Participate in cross‑site working and be flexible to relocate between bases as required.
* Be prepared to move or lift equipment up to 15 kg using proper techniques.
Person Specification – Experience & Qualifications
* Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Technology, Foundation Degree/ONC or equivalent.
* Practical experience in electro‑medical engineering post‑qualification (maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, acceptance testing).
* Attendance at training courses for maintenance and repair of a range of medical devices.
Person Specification – Skills
* Competent in standard computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to equalities and diversity through ongoing development.

Working Conditions
Requires right to work in the UK – no visa sponsorship available. Applicants must be able to relocate across sites and possess a clean driving licence.
