Be the Difference – Youth Support Worker at Blossom Living (Empower Young Lives!)
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in young people’s lives? Blossom Living is seeking Youth Support Workers who are compassionate, dedicated, and ready to help 16–18-year-olds blossom into independent adults. We provide nurturing homes for young people leaving care or facing homelessness, supporting them to achieve their potential and gain the skills needed for independent living. Key Responsibilities
* Mentor and Support:
* Guide and support young people (16–18) in supported accommodation, helping them develop essential life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and personal care for independent living.
* Empower & Inspire:
Provide emotional support and positive mentorship – be a trusted confidant and role model who encourages each young person to believe in themselves and work towards their goals.
Monitor each young person’s well-being and progress. Maintain a safe, nurturing environment by following safeguarding procedures and addressing any challenges calmly and professionally.Work closely with a friendly team and external professionals (social workers, educators, etc.) to create and follow individual action plans for each young person’s development. Share information during handovers and team meetings to ensure consistent, high-quality support.Assist with day-to-day tasks and household management. This includes helping organise activities, supporting with appointments or outings, and keeping clear records of each young person’s achievements, challenges, and general observations.

About You (Qualifications & Qualities)
We’re looking for enthusiastic, caring individuals who can bring empathy and energy to this role. Our ideal candidate will have many of the following qualities:
* Experience or Eagerness to Learn: Previous experience (around 1+ year) working with young people or vulnerable adults is highly valued. However, if you don’t have direct experience but have a genuine passion and willingness to learn, we will provide full training to help you thrive in this role.
* Compassion & Patience: Have a big heart and plenty of patience. Understand that many of our 16–18-year-olds have faced challenges, and you’re committed to listening, understanding, and encouraging them every step of the way.
* Resilience: Supporting teenagers can be challenging as well as rewarding. Your stay calm and solution-focused in tough situations, handle setbacks with a positive attitude, and bounce back quickly to keep providing great support.
* Communication Skills : You are fluent in English and communicate clearly, both spoken and written. You can connect with young people from diverse backgrounds and also convey information professionally to colleagues and other stakeholders.
* Team Player: Your thrive in a team environment and believe we’re stronger together. You respect others’ differences, contribute ideas, and support your colleagues. You’re also able to work independently and take initiative when needed.
* Reliability & Professionalism: You’re responsible, punctual, and can be counted on to follow through with tasks. You maintain professional boundaries, follow safeguarding and confidentiality guidelines, and keep accurate records. (Basic computer skills for record-keeping are a plus.)
* Growth Mindset: You’re open to feedback, eager to improve, and excited to take on training opportunities. You want to build a long-term career with us, growing as we grow – your ambition to develop aligns with our commitment to staff progression.
* Right to Work in the UK: You must have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom. (Unfortunately, we cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.)
* DBS & References : Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check (paid by us) and provide satisfactory references in line with safer recruitment standards.
* Fluent English : High proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) is essential for communicating with residents and recording information.
* Flexible Availability : Ability to work on a rota that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional nights. Our service runs 24/7, so team members share responsibilities to ensure continuous support.
* Minimum Age : 24 years or older (due to the nature of the role and legal requirements).
