Job overview Our Bushey Fields site (Dudley) is currently recruiting for a number of Health Care Support workers for FT perm positions specifically on Kinver ward Kinver Ward - is a MALE Ward A £2million investment has given the ward space at Bushey Fields Hospital in Dudley an upgrade as part of a programme to improve inpatient environments at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The newly upgraded Kinver ward will provide inpatient support for males requiring mental health care, offering 16 beds in a modern and comfortable setting. The refurbishment includes the latest technology and design features, such as anti-ligature fixtures, advanced alarm systems, and dedicated spaces for activities, quiet reflection, and social interaction. Patients will also benefit from a courtyard garden and a dedicated room for those needing support for their physical health. Adjacent to the main ward, there is a place of safety suite that offers a private and dignified space for individuals who are admitted for urgent assessment. The role of Health Care Support Worker is a key and valued part of our in-patient services, assisting and supporting our Nursing Provision - for more details on the role - please see below. Please note these roles cover shift patterns which can include weekends, nights and days - please do ensure you are willing to work shifts before applying. Advert To assist in basic care and assessment of the patient as support to, and under the supervision of, a registered nurse/senior support staff. To follow individualised care and therapeutic programmes for patients under the instruction of the nursing staff/senior support staff. To provide support to patients with their personal care. To be informed and aware of the patients clinical condition and individual circumstances to ensure the care and comfort of clients. To promote communications and act as an advocate for patients who have experienced difficulty in communicating. To contribute to the patients plan of treatment by communicating any observations of patients behaviours to the Care co-ordinator or nurse-incharge during periods of duty. To work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to promote quality care. Work in collaboration with the patient, involving them at all times with their care. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please download the accompanying JD/PS for a full list of duties To support the qualified staff in the admission and discharge procedure. To ensure the relevant policies in respect of patients property and valuables are maintained. To support staff in promoting recreation/leisure amongst patients. To contribute to the promotion of patients education and well-being. To monitor and encourage and record patients in their consumption of food and drink. Accompany appropriate patients of site as and when required. To assist in the maintenance of a safe environment. To participate in the observation of patients at risk. To promote and maintain beneficial relationships between relatives/patients and carers in liaison with other appropriate agencies. To participate in all projects and research schemes to improve the quality of the patient’s life. To be aware of and comply with Health & Safety, Fire Regulations and all other policies laid down by Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. To attend mandatory courses/lectures/in-house training, as required. To develop skills and knowledge in the area of mental health care by undertaking mandatory NVQ Level II training. Infection prevention & control is everybody’s responsibility, it is a requirement for all Trust staff to comply with all trust infection control policies and procedures.
