Tunbridge Wells Theatres are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated individual to work within our Theatre Department as a Band 3 Senior Theatre Support Worker!
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of theatre experience and will have the knowledge and skills to provide care and assistance throughout the patients’ perioperative journey. You will be an important part of the multi‑disciplinary team, bringing patients to theatres, checking documentation, and applying monitoring in the anaesthetic room. Inside theatre you will assist the scrub team, clean after each surgery, and ensure that the stock is kept topped‑up. There will also be portering duties, taking patients on beds and trolleys to and from the wards. As a senior, you will be allocated an area of responsibility and will be heavily involved with training new staff.
Training Pathway
If you do not currently hold a nationally recognised Care Certificate obtained in a healthcare setting from a registered provider or an NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare support, you can commence this role as a Band 2 Theatre Support Worker. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust will assist you with on‑the‑job training to complete your Care Certificate within the 6‑month probationary period, with a minimum completion time of 3 months. Upon successful completion of the Care Certificate, you will progress to a Band 3 Senior Theatre Support Worker.
Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of theatre experience
* Nationally recognised Care Certificate (or NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare support) or willingness to obtain it within 6 months
* Good communication skills and high motivation
* Ability to work day shifts, long days, weekends and nights
* Current DBS Enhanced Level check (or willingness to obtain one)

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date has been agreed. Following this, you will attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers. The programme is full‑time, lasting two weeks, and involves travelling to both Trust sites and classroom‑based sessions.
