Job summary
We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive training practice for 4 sessions per week, ideally starting April 2026.
Pay will be a sessional rate of £10500-£11000 per session per year depending on experience. Medical Indemnity is paid by the practice.
Main duties of the job
You will deliver high-quality primary care services based in a single practice, alongside a team of 5 GPs, 1 ANP, nursing and pharmacy teams. Your roles will include:
* Managing a range of acute, chronic, and complex conditions.
* Face to face clinics, which is the majority of your appointments, but we also provide telephone and online services.
* Home Visits.
* Contributing to clinical governance, QOF achievement, and practice development.
* Working collaboratively with the wider practice and PCN team.

Station Lane Medical Centre is a GP practice located in Featherstone, Pontefract and serves the local population with a list size of approximately 8000. We pride ourselves on working closely within the clinical team to make collective decisions on improving patient care whatever role that team member may have and we do so by meeting for two hours every Wednesday together. Job responsibilities
* Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate.
* Make yourself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Record clear and contemporaneous computer-based consultation notes to agreed standards using SystmOne.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Collect data for audit purposes.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
* Supervise and debrief GP trainees and allied healthcare professionals when needed with protected time to do so.
* Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications
* MRCGP Qualification.
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
* Full GMC Registration.
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
* Registered on the NHSE medical performers list.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Proficient in using clinical IT Systems and embracing technology.
* Strong clinical skills, with an evidence‑based approach to patient care.
* Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
Desirable qualifications
* Experience of working within a busy practice alongside a multi‑disciplinary team.
