Job Description

Your main work will be to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). It is an exciting role that will truly make a difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly beneficial and will significantly contribute to the successful implementation of the reform.
You will:
1. Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
2. Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
3. Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, using your technical expertise to ensure the service meets the business needs.
4. Provide technical insight/feedback into Defra Policy discussions to ensure the regulatory requirements of the Hazardous Waste Regime are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
5. Engage with the devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
In addition, you will:
1. Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical elements and links to waste tracking.
2. Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
3. Support and contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team.
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the business on hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.

The role is based at an EA Office location, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
