Dealing with more than 3,500 planning applications and 1500 planning enforcement cases a year, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council is one of largest and busiest planning departments in the country. We cover a beautiful part of the country stretching from a boundary with the City of York across the Yorkshire Wolds to the chalk sea cliffs at Flamborough Head and adjoining the city of Hull. The Council is based in the beautiful market town of Beverley and is recognised nationally as one of the best in the country.
We can offer a wide variety of experience in terms of development types and locations and excellent training opportunities with a planning authority that is nationally recognised and respected. The Council provides a discounted leisure centre membership, a staff discount scheme, the potential for flexible working arrangements and the payment of recognised professional planning fees.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues and the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer and the Planning Enforcement Team Leader to ensure development is compliant with permissions, to investigate complaints in respect of unauthorised development and to pursue formal planning enforcement action when appropriate.
We are looking for a motivated and competent person with good knowledge of planning or a regulatory background. The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills and an ability to efficiently undertake investigations.
