Dartmoor Project Officer
Based in Bovey Tracey and Princetown, Devon
About us
Dartmoor National Park Authority works in partnership with local and national stakeholders to conserve and enhance Dartmoor as a vibrant, living, working landscape and community teeming with natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.
We promote opportunities for the public to understand and enjoy the special qualities of Dartmoor National Park, whilst also promoting the economic and social well-being of local communities.
This is a part-time (22hrs/wk) position (0.6FTE), for a fixed-term until 30th June 2027, subject to funding. We will also consider additional hours. The role is based at the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) offices at Parke and Princetown.
About the role
Are you an organised, proactive individual with a passion for the environment? We’re looking for a Project Officer to support the delivery of projects within our Conservation and Land Management team. This will be primarily within the Hill Farm Project, which supports agricultural businesses within the National Park boundary, advocating the role farming plays in the economy, culture and environment.
In this vital role, you’ll help bring environmental projects to life by providing essential support across project co-ordination, financial administration, communications, and stakeholder engagement. You'll be a key player in ensuring our environmental projects are delivered smoothly, on time, and with maximum impact.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take the lead on communications, creating engaging content and sharing updates through newsletters, social media, and websites.
Organising meetings and events will be part of your role, including preparing materials, arranging logistics, and taking minutes when needed.
You’ll assist with financial administration, processing invoices, supporting budgets, and helping with regular reporting.
Finally, you’ll work closely with a wide range of partners, contractors, and the Dartmoor farming community to ensure strong collaboration and positive outcomes across all projects.
Benefits
- Salary of £29,540 - £33,699 per annum
- Generous annual leave and flexitime policies
- Cycle to work scheme
- Access to electric vehicle pool car fleet
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Beautiful office location on National Trust estate, with free parking and café on site
- Discounts at National Park Visitor Centres

About you
The successful applicant will be motivated to deliver real environmental impact, have strong project administration skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. They’ll be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly and confidently.
Experience in creating engaging content for websites, newsletters, and social media is essential, along with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and channels.
While a background in conservation, farming, or ecology is desirable, it’s not essential. We welcome candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds who share a commitment to environmental work and want to make a difference.
This is a role for someone who can hit the ground running, show initiative, and thrive in a workplace focused on delivering environmental and social change across the National Park and beyond.
