Lead D365 Finance Consultant - Perm

Purpose Statement
We are looking for a Lead D365 Finance Consultant to join our delivery team.
This is a hands-on consulting role where you’ll deliver Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations solutions for legal and professional services clients, guiding them through implementations, optimisations, and transformation projects.
As a subject-matter expert in finance, you’ll lead financial process improvements, ensure best practice, and support complex transformation projects across the sector.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Client Delivery
No direct line management responsibilities
UK-based, working remotely with occasional travel to client sites or regional offices
Standard hours 9:00–17:30 (UK), with flexibility around client needs

Areas of Responsibility
Lead and deliver end-to-end Dynamics 365 F&O implementations across Finance modules (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank, Financial Reporting, Project Accounting)
Work closely with clients to assess business requirements and deliver legal-sector specific solutions
Conduct fit-gap assessments and design optimised financial processes
Produce Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and other key documentation
Configure D365 F&O to align with client needs, ensuring compliance with accounting and industry standards
Provide strategic financial guidance and best practices for operational and reporting improvements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (technical consultants, CE, product) to deliver integrated solutions
Support data migration, testing, training, and post-go-live activities
Stay current on D365 F&O advancements and recommend enhancements
Participate in UK and European pre-sales activities as requested
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior consultants, associates, and clients
Maintain continuous professional development including relevant certifications
Skills and Experience
5+ years hands-on experience implementing end-to-end Dynamics 365 Finance solutions (or equivalent AX/F&O background)
Expertise across the full functional project lifecycle: analysis, requirements gathering, documentation, testing, training & support
Deep knowledge of Finance, Project Accounting & HR modules
Strong experience with financial reporting, consolidations, budgeting, and forecasting
Proven understanding of multi-company, multi-currency, and intercompany transactions in D365 Finance
Prior Microsoft Partner or consulting environment experience preferred
Experience designing and delivering financial automation and compliance solutions
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
Strong documentation and presentation abilities (FDDs/SDDs)
Certifications in D365 or related areas highly advantageous
Professional services / legal sector experience an advantage
Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
