Main duties of the job
Our Foot and Ankle fellowship post has been recognised by BOFAS as a high‑quality senior fellow post aimed at developing subspecialist skills and preparing our fellows for a consultant career in Foot and Ankle Surgery. There are currently four Orthopaedic Surgeons specialising in foot and ankle surgery: four (Mr Stephen Bendall, Mr Joel Vernois, Ms Natasha Hossain and Mr Tom Voller) specialise mainly in elective adult foot and ankle pathology, plus several trauma surgeons with a sub‑specialist interest in foot and ankle.

The post holder will be closely supervised in outpatients and in the operating theatre. It is expected that over the tenure of the post the successful candidate will undertake an increasing level of independent practice, progressing toward independent operation.
Ideally, the first six months will be spent between trauma and open surgery, while the second six months will include more minimally invasive work with Mr Vernois.
