Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Therapy Department at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH). You will be supporting Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who provide rehabilitation programmes for people with complex chronic musculoskeletal pain problems, hypermobility and rheumatological conditions. The role combines clinical, organisational and general tasks to ensure the smooth running of the outpatient department and a quality patient experience in the therapy outpatients and hydrotherapy pool areas. The applicant will be a good communicator, well organised and able to manage a varied workload.
Responsibilities
* Undertake specific skilled support work to aid rehabilitation of patients and support day-to-day running of the department.
* Assist with teaching and supervising exercises (individually, in classes and in water) and functional activities, and provide feedback to the multidisciplinary team on patients’ progress.
* Provide administration, data entry and practical support to ensure the smooth running of the department.
* Maintain stock levels and ensure equipment is cleaned according to RNOH infection control guidelines.
* Supply patients requiring walking aids/equipment and instruct patients on their safe use.
* Support students on clinical placements.
* Carry out and document group and individual activity sessions with patients; maintain clinical equipment and perform administrative and clerical tasks; prepare and clean treatment areas.
* Work regularly in and around the hydrotherapy pool; sessions may include craft activities, gardening and/or cooking to reinforce rehabilitation principles.
* Deliver relaxation groups and assist therapists to run sport and swimming sessions; set up and use rehabilitation equipment/techniques.
* Full training and regular supervision will be provided.
Location
The post holder will mainly be based at the RNOH Stanmore site.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Good written and spoken English and experience of working with people with disabilities.
* Demonstrable initiative and the ability to perform basic administration and clerical tasks.
