Role: Tutor at Edinburgh College of Art

Applications are invited for a Guaranteed Hours (GH), open ended contract as a Tutor in Design and Screen Cultures on the following course:

DESI11164 Objects of Desire – 60 hours (Semester 1 only)

The Opportunity:

The School of Design at Edinburgh College of Art is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team as a Tutor. This flexible role will involve an average of 2-3 hours of teaching per week, in semester 1 only.

This role will support the delivery of the Design and Screen Cultures Course – The Objects of Desire (see link)

Key responsibilities include leading seminars and group tutorials, providing live feedback as well as providing formative and summative assessment and feedback.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Design and Material Cultures and a comprehensive understanding of the conceptual and historical aspects of craft and design. They must be able to teach in a seminar environment, working with students through a series of weekly seminar tasks and readings that compliment a series of weekly teachings, that are pre-recorded by the academic team and delivered through a flipped classroom model.

Your skills and attributes for success:

* Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, or with substantial industry experience in craft and design.
* Experience of teaching within higher or further education settings with a proven ability to work confidently and effectively with a diverse student body.
* Proficient in delivering a range of teaching activities in the format of seminars and tutorials
* Strong, up-to-date knowledge of the conceptual and historical aspects of craft and design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
