This post is a fixed-term/secondment for 18 months from the beginning of the contract.
We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed-term Practice Manager to join our team at Brynmawr Medical Centre. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, strategic vision, and management skills to guide and develop the Practice to meet existing and future quality and business needs, including the delivery of high-quality patient care services. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate robust leadership and communication skills, be well-organized, and highly motivated.
The job requires the ability to balance strategic leadership with the need to address day-to-day operational challenges quickly and effectively. This will involve delegating responsibilities appropriately to the multidisciplinary team and other staff, while maintaining overall accountability. The post-holder will be the senior non-clinical figure within the practice.

Main duties of the job
This is a key management role within the Medical Practice, which includes the main Practice and any local satellite bases. The role involves supporting a wide-ranging agenda through delivering patient-centred, safe, effective primary healthcare services to the registered patients of the Practice.
The post holder will work closely with the Practice team to lead the delivery of the GMS Contract and related services to the Practice population. They will use specialist knowledge to lead delivery, contract management, and strategic planning of the Practice. The role includes leading service development and improvement, evaluating performance, and managing specific plans and projects to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.
The post holder will serve as the day-to-day contact for resolving complex contract management issues within the Practice. This involves handling sensitive or contentious information, overcoming barriers to understanding using advanced interpersonal and communication skills. The role requires analytical ability, comprehension skills, and knowledge of relevant contract legislation, regulatory frameworks, performance management, and financial arrangements.
