The role Southern Housing is hiring a Governance Officer to join our Governance & Regulation Team. This role is suitable for a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with experience of supporting the effective operation of Boards and Committees and ensure our legal and regulatory obligations are met. This is a key role within our Governance Team, reporting to the Head of Governance & Regulation and contributing directly to strong, transparent and compliant governance across the organisation. What you'll be doing Coordinate and service Board and Committee meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes and follow‑up actions Maintain governance systems, records and statutory registers (probity, shareholders, gifts and hospitality, fraud, whistleblowing) Support AGMs, including preparing notices, distributing packs and minute taking. Assist with Board and Committee recruitment, inductions and training Support annual Board and Committee appraisals and effectiveness reviews Manage administration of legal documentation, including electronic signing and wet signing Assist with statutory and regulatory filings and review of governance policies Contribute to governance projects, including regulatory inspections and reviews Provide general administrative support such as filing, archiving, invoice processing and handling enquiries This role is based in our Farringdon office, with the flexibility to work in a hybrid way as agreed with your manager. What you'll need: Experience in governance and company secretarial duties Knowledge of social housing regulation and relevant legislation Excellent minute taking, report writing and attention to detail Strong organisational, communication and MS Office skills Experience in writing reports, policies and procedures Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines A‑Level education or equivalent In your supporting statement, it is important that you address how you meet each of the above seven criteria providing real examples.
