We are seeking to appoint a Trust Grade Doctor (CT1 equivalent) in Emergency Medicine at Scarborough Hospital on a permanent basis.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for a doctor who has already gained experience within Emergency Medicine to further develop their clinical skills within a supportive and forward-thinking department. The successful applicant will work as part of our multidisciplinary team across the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services.
The post is on a full shift rota covering a 24/7 service, including nights, weekends and public holidays, in line with service requirements.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will:
1. Assess, investigate and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department and SDEC
2. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality urgent and emergency care
3. Participate in the full shift rota including out-of-hours working
4. Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement activities
5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Whilst the posts available do not form part of the formal training programme, we endeavour to offer post holders the same training & educational opportunities as colleagues in training, including paid study leave. You will be provided with clinical/educational supervision, to enable your personal and portfolio development. There is an active Postgraduate Medical Education Centre on both sites, as part of a dynamic Education & Training directorate, which is developing multi-professional training.

Essential criteria
6. Registered with and hold a licence to practice with the GMC
Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. Has achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
8. Satisfactory completion of Foundation Programme
9. 6 months experience in an Emergency Department
10. Current European Advance Life Support Certificate
Desirable criteria
11. Distinctions, Scholarships, Prizes
12. Experience of research
13. 12 months continuous experience within the NHS
14. Additional degrees e.g. MSc, MBA, PHD
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
15. Competence in basic clinical procedures
16. Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection

17. Knowledge of UK health systems, practices and values; awareness of current issues in the NHS
