Community Choose to live in/near the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh (e.g., Cranberry Twp.) and commute to the practice or live in one of the beautiful suburban areas near UPMC Jameson | UPMC Horizon. The hospitals are nestled in the rolling hills of Lawrence/Mercer counties on the PA/OH border surrounded by lakes and near several cities/airports. Our area enjoys the best of both worlds – beautiful suburban/small towns tucked away in very safe, affordable, family-friendly neighborhoods, but close to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Erie & Youngstown via several nearby interstates. Our communities boast award-winning schools, affordable housing, abundant recreational & cultural activities – all bound together by a “blue collar” attitude that started with our days as a “steel town” and continues now through our successful transition to a modern haven for families. The typical rental/ownership options exist for housing, but there’s a unique variety of very affordable neighborhoods here including: charming college-towns, larger suburban areas or rural areas with lots of land. Numerous recreational/cultural offerings include local & state parks, fitness centers, symphonies, hiking/biking trails, indoor/outdoor sports facilities, golfing, skiing, museums, live music venues, community & professional theater – even skydiving! Nicknamed the “Lakeland Area” there are several waterways for fishing, sailing & swimming ranging from large state parks to rivers (via kayak/canoe outfitters) to secluded fishing holes. Shopping options include one of the country’s largest outlet malls as well as multiple national chain stores and unique, local boutique shops. Our region offers something for everyone!
