WRK digital is excited to partner with Skipton Building Society to support the growth of their cloud engineering and architecture teams. They are seeking a Principal Architect to define, lead, and govern the organization's technology architecture strategy.
The Principal Architect will provide leadership, technical expertise, and strategic guidance to ensure best practices in software engineering, cloud technologies, and enterprise architecture across both IT infrastructure and Engineering domains.
The responsibilities include:
1. Defining cloud adoption strategies using Azure services.
2. Ensuring high availability, scalability, and security in cloud deployments.
3. Driving the implementation of Azure-native solutions.
4. Providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and IT infrastructure teams.
5. Leading cross-functional teams to align architectural decisions with business goals.
6. Advising senior leadership, including the GCIO and Director of Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy, on technical and business strategies.
7. Promoting modern architecture patterns like event-driven architectures and microservices.
8. Documenting architectural designs and decisions systematically.
9. Ensuring traceability of decisions and impact assessments.
10. Applying best practices such as the Repository Pattern, CQRS, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
11. Designing systems for high availability and resilience using technologies like load balancing.
12. Ensuring system security with technologies such as IDS/IPS and WAF.
13. Supporting the development of runbooks and operational procedures for production systems.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, IT, or architecture roles.
2. Proven leadership in large-scale cloud transformations.
3. Strong expertise in Azure cloud services.
4. Knowledge of event-driven architectures and microservices.
5. Experience in technical leadership and stakeholder management.
6. Proficiency in modern software engineering and IT patterns.
7. Excellent documentation and decision-recording skills.
8. Experience with on-premises and hybrid cloud solutions.
9. Strong security awareness, including identity and access management.
10. Expertise in observability and monitoring solutions.
