Description
To ensure the legal support team meet the demands of the firm and its clients. This role will be responsible for the successful delivery of a high-quality, client-focused legal support service, through the operational day-to-day management of Practice Assistants (PAs), Legal Support Assistants (LSAs), and Administrative Assistants (AAs). The postholder will be the main point of contact for the allocated Hub services, working closely with team members to understand business and practice needs and collaborating with SMs and lawyers to deliver excellent client-focused support services.
Key Responsibilities
People Management
* Manage individual performance of support staff, including regular progress meetings and annual appraisals.
* Ensure smooth induction for new starters and support SMs in understanding HR, department, and client policies.
* Act as a coach to develop the team to high standards.
* Identify training needs and support personal development.
* Provide pastoral care and promote wellbeing within the team.
Management of Support Services
* Oversee legal support teams focusing on service delivery and excellence; resolve workflow, resource, and HR issues.
* Manage resource allocation during absences to maintain service levels.
* Collaborate with SMs to support wider group objectives.
* Develop relationships and proactively manage services and workflow.
* Prioritize work and balance fee-earning activities with capacity planning.
* Participate in recruitment and selection processes.
* Monitor issues, anticipate demand changes, and implement timely interventions.
* Work with other HLs and SMs to improve support services quality and efficiency.
* Maintain relevant statistics and approve overtime as needed.
* Develop current services and consider future technological and client needs.
* Coordinate desk allocations and office moves with SMs and IT/Operations teams.
* Ensure high standards of service are maintained and developed.
Quality of Service
* Drive delivery of exceptional client service and ensure process consistency.
* Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, engaging with central teams as needed.
* Support and champion department initiatives and projects.
* Participate in projects from initiation to completion, ensuring objectives are met.
* Perform other duties as appropriate for the role.
