This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than currently required. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Clinical Technologist Practitioner

Department of Medical Physics, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technologist position within the Radiation Protection and Imaging Physics section [RPIP] of Medical Physics at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The section provides scientific and technical support to a range of clinical services within NHS Lothian & NHS Fife.

Key responsibilities include:

* Provide support and expertise in radiation physics, imaging physics, and medical device management.
* Assist in the design, operation, and quality assurance of ionising and non‑ionising imaging equipment.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the service.
* Engage in continuous professional development, including training under the RCT Radiation Physics scope of practice and participation in IPEM’s clinical technologist training scheme.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to uphold quality standards and patient/staff safety.

Qualifications and experience:

* SCQF level 9 qualification in physics, engineering, or clinical technology. Equivalence via relevant technical experience may be considered.
* Experience or knowledge of radiation physics, imaging physics, and medical devices is desirable.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and precision‑work skills.
