Engineering Manager

2. Annual salary: £53,000 - £55,000
3. Shift pattern: 38 Hours Per Week Mon-Fri
Are you up for the challenge of leading one of the best engineering functions at Stagecoach?
Our Rawmarsh depot is one of Stagecoach’s top-performing engineering locations, whether it be KPIs or audit led, and home to a modern and evolving fleet, including 23 electric vehicles.
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to build on this success, support a high-performing team, and take our engineering standards even further. This is a rare opportunity to lead a function that’s already performing at the top of its game, and to shape the next stage of its development.
What you’ll be doing
4. Leading a skilled team of engineers, technicians, cleaners, and apprentices to ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and customer-ready
5. Managing the maintenance and presentation of 51 service buses and 4 training vehicles, including our growing EV fleet
6. Overseeing depot plant, workshop equipment, and building maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance and a proactive approach to health & safety
7. Managing daily operations including resource planning, stock control, procurement, and supplier relationships
8. Coaching, developing, and empowering team members, helping them grow their technical capability and career progression
9. Using data, performance insights, and engineering best practice to drive continuous improvement
10. Working closely with the Engineering Director and contributing to regional projects, fleet strategy, and long-term planning
11. Maintaining engineering quality in line with DVSA regulations and Stagecoach engineering standards
What we’re looking for
12. Engineering experience in sectors such as bus, coach, HGV, rail, plant, or automotive
13. A strong people leader, whether already a manager or ready to step up into your first depot leadership role
14. A proactive, organised, and safety-first mindset
15. Experience with compliance, budgets, audits, and health & safety
16. A passion for reliability, operational excellence, and high presentation standards
