Job Overview

Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse who is ready for a challenge? The Central Site Stoma / Colorectal Nursing team is seeking a highly self‑motivated practitioner, with a desire to promote and develop clinical excellence in practice. The successful post holder will join an established Stoma / Colorectal Nursing team and provide nursing support to inpatient / outpatient areas.


Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will deliver patient care complementary to that offered by doctors and other health care professionals within the field of Stoma / Colorectal Care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

* Act as part of the colorectal care nursing team and support point both in‑patient and out‑patient services to ensure patients receive appropriate management/treatment, aid their pathway and contribute to decreased length of stay.
* Work collaboratively as a member of the Stoma / Colorectal team to ensure both elective and emergency patients receive holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their care needs.
* Speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

You will need the following:

* Registered Nurse with current registration with the N.M.C.
* Post‑registration education, a diploma/degree level.
* Post‑registration nursing experience at Band 5 level or above.
* Demonstrate involvement in change management and successful implementation of practice/quality improvements.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Experience of multi‑professional working / working effectively with other stakeholders.

Person Specification


Skills / Competence – Essential Criteria

* Demonstrates knowledge of the advances and current issues in lower gastrointestinal disorders.
* Excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrate teaching skills.


Qualifications – Essential Criteria

* N.M.C. current registration.
* RGN first‑level nurse.
* Have or be working towards a nursing diploma.


Qualifications – Desirable Criteria

* Stoma / colorectal course or equivalent.


Experience – Essential Criteria

* Substantial post‑registration experience with Stoma / colorectal patients.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the advances and current issues in lower gastrointestinal disorders.
