What the job involves The Environmental Protection Officer will provide a range of professional and technical services within a single shared service across two council areas. The role includes managing a personal caseload of complex residential issues, undertaking inspections and visits to residential premises, reviewing evidence for regulatory responses, and initiating enforcement actions. The role also involves working collaboratively with statutory agencies, representing the council in legal proceedings, and supporting team development and service improvements. Skills Relevant qualification in Environmental Health or Trading Standards Experience in local authority regulatory and compliance settings Ability to manage and organize complex caseloads Strong analytical and decision-making skills Excellent communication and report writing skills Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders Commitment to personal development and continuous improvement Ability to act as an expert witness in legal proceedings
