AtkinsRéalis already has great technical capability and offers pollution reduction solutions to clients across different markets in the UK and internationally. We see the potential for significant growth in the airports sector and are seeking a new Associate Director who can see and capture this pivotal opportunity for the business and our clients. An important part of the role is to be the integrator of technical specialisms to drive joined-up services for clients which can tackle multiple environmental, engineering and sustainability challenges. You will work collaboratively with AtkinsRéalis’ technical teams to solve clients’ problems, ensuring technical best practice, knowledge sharing and process optimisation in our approach to projects. It is a role that brings together deep technical expertise with the collaborative approach required to develop relationships externally and internally.Joining a well-established and successful team, you will work with our specialists from across the Practice to win and deliver our portfolio of projects. You will champion high standards of performance, and influence project development. As an expert in the field, you will undertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others, leading on projects and frameworks as appropriate. You will work closely with our clients to develop trusted relationships, supporting them in a skilled, professional manner. You will guide on bid preparation and develop new areas of business for the team. As an Associate Director, you will be a well-recognised specialist, leading complex projects in your areas of expertise, mentoring and supporting more junior staff, and will be expected to work closely with the team to further develop the group’s objectives, portfolio of projects and clients, and digital tools.**Your purpose:**You will lead on the delivery of key technical areas related to water & environment for airports, coordinating specialist inputs to delivery and ensure excellence in all we do. By maintaining excellent professional relationships, you will oversee a growth in repeat business in areas such as de-icier science, surface water management strategies, contamination and pollution investigations, permitting or groundwater and surface water compliance monitoring programmes.You will be someone with a strong set of technical skills, networks and knowledge complimentary to the AtkinsRéalis Water Management Consultancy (WMC). You will work effectively as part of a team and with other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) throughout AtkinsRéalis to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients.You will also work closely with the Practice Director, Greg Whitfield, Service Line Leads and Professional Heads of Discipline, to support the development and maintenance of a strategy to raise the water and environment work for airports both nationally and internationally, through increased engagement with professional bodies, the AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure business and more widely across AtkinsRéalis.* Client focussed - Strong in the win – deliver sphere with highly developed relationship management skills and a strong reputation with our clients, project stakeholders and regulators. Comfortable presenting thought pieces or technical papers.**What you can bring*** Must have a degree in a relevant discipline and preferably relevant post-graduate qualification (with a focus on water quality, environmental chemistry or aquatic environment).* Be an established and recognised leader in the water and or aviation industries with a strong pedigree of consultancy or research experience.* Established reputation and technical standing in water quality and ecology across freshwater, estuarine and marine environments.* Specialist expertise in EU and UK environmental regulation (Water Framework Directive, Priority Substances and Sludge Directives, Urban Wastewater Treatment, Habitat Regulations Directive, Environmental Permitting Regulations, etc.).* Established relationships and collaborations with academic and research institutes in the field of environmental sciences, urban drainage, water quality and environmental chemistry.* Creativity and innovation evident from own work and published papers.* Excellent writing skills - clarity in scientific writing is key; demonstrated through existing work (e.g. scientific publications, policy documents, thought leadership articles and consultancy reports).
