Job Description of Junior Microbiologist
The junior microbiologist performs routine microbiology tests, conduct environmental monitoring, and perform laboratory duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
* Follow laboratory safety requirements and standard operating procedures as applicable.
* Media preparation, culture maintenance, culture and media waste disposal.
* Conduct microbial enumeration and identification tests on raw materials, packaging components, intermediate and finished products.
* Gram stain, reading plates, water and EM sample collection and testing.
* Assist Senior Microbiologist and supervisor in investigations and contribute to continuous improvement.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* B.Sc. degree or college diploma in microbiology or equivalent discipline.
* Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and media preparation and culture maintenance.
* Knowledge of current USP and/or ISO microbiology test procedures.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
* Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food industries is an asset.
