Assistant Shop Manager (Fixed Term Contract) - Thirsk - Location: Thirsk. Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 6 months, part time 14 hours across 2 days per week. Salary: £8,957 (FTE £22,394) per annum. Closing date: Sunday 28 September 2025. Interview date: W/C 6 October 2025.
Role
Calling experienced retail professionals! A part‑time Assistant Shop Manager opportunity has become available at our shop in Thirsk. We are more than a charity shop and work to make a meaningful impact for pets and their owners.
Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate a team of volunteers to create a friendly and welcoming shopping experience.
* Support recruitment and training of new volunteers, sharing knowledge of merchandising.
* Drive forward sales and source quality fashion, accessories and homeware from donations to regenerate stock and find new homes for items.
* Provide high-quality customer service to both purchasers and donors.
* Collaborate with the Shop Manager and local community to achieve business goals.
* Assist with weekly shop operations and cover flexible hours as needed, including weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications
* Previous experience working in a retail environment
* Cash handling and reconciliation experience
* Experience in leading a team
* Experience in delivering great customer experience
* Computer and administration skills
Desirable extras
* Experience managing volunteers
* Charity retail experience
