Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network, responsible for managing department duties such as load planning, load flow control, and trailer utilization. They coordinate with internal and external partners, assign duties, and communicate effectively to ensure safety, quality, and on-time performance.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Corresponding with shipping companies and tracking packages using their software.
2. Coordinating trailers and cross docks via SSP.
3. Troubleshooting and resolving shipping issues.
4. Maximizing trailer utilization to control costs.
5. Monitoring dock performance and load levels.
6. Collaborating with transportation teams on driver and trailer needs.
7. Ensuring safety measures are followed and participating in safety initiatives.
8. Assisting in SOP updates, training associates, and maintaining a clean work area.
9. Participating in operational excellence and safety protocols.
Basic Qualifications
* 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
* Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for long shifts, and perform physical tasks.
* Work 40 hours/week with overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in training, teaching, or presentations.
* Willingness to work different shifts and areas.
* Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
* Support for Operational Excellence initiatives.
