Mission & role of the function
* To ensure that Smiths Concrete products are delivered to customers in a timely, efficient and courteous manner
* To ensure that the professional standards of the company are upheld at all times
* To ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety, Environmental, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Law and company procedures are applied as part of your daily routine
Key accountabilities
* To ensure the vehicle and all equipment entrusted to you is properly maintained, kept in clean condition and that all vehicle records are correctly maintained as required by the current legislation and company procedures
* To comply with relevant company policies and procedures
* To ensure that all health & safety, working time directive and road transport regulatory requirements are followed
* Ensure that all waste disposals, water discharges and dust emissions are dealt with in accordance with the Environmental procedures
* Carry out deliveries in the most cost-effective and efficient manner
* Ensure attendance to the operating unit is timely and consistent with meeting the requirements of the company
To perform any other relevant duties as requested by your line manager
Job requirements
* Clean cat C heavy goods licence – LDVL – HGV2
* Full working knowledge of road transport law, working time directive and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
* Have a good standard of numeracy and literacy
* Ability to identify and report issues
* Be motivated and able to work unsupervised
