About the role
Our Court Associates are essential to ensure Magistrates Court hearings run smoothly. They have the self‑assurance to communicate confidently with the Judge and all participants and the skill to produce accurate and timely Court documents. These operational roles are customer‑facing, requiring office‑based applicants to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities
You’re a confident communicator; able to speak publicly and liaise with the Judge, defence, prosecution, media and members of the public with calmness and professionalism. You work in a team with a Legal Team and a Judge ensuring the smooth running of all Magistrates Courts sitting daily, interceding in Court when required, maximising judicial sitting time and taking pleas, producing Court orders and recording hearing outcomes accurately and efficiently. You adapt to new systems and technologies, remain resilient, and continuously learn to improve justice delivery.
Qualifications
* Ability to be a supportive team player delivering excellent customer service and achieving effective performance.
* Able to speak publicly and within a courtroom environment.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to complete documents accurately and meet deadlines.
* IT proficient with the ability to learn and adapt to different technologies and software packages.
