The Orthopaedic unit is a busy receiving centre for all trauma in Tayside, alongside elective admissions for joint replacements. It is crucial that therapy is provided over seven days to aid capacity and flow and to ensure enhanced recovery pathways are optimised. This is an exciting time for a forward thinking HCPC registered Physiotherapist with well developed clinical and communication skills to join us as we expand and develop our Physiotherapy service. This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver physiotherapy interventions and develop therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients within the orthopaedic service. The applicant should have experience within Orthopaedics and have a keen interest in the management of acute conditions. Additionally applicants should have a broad range of experience in addition to their orthopaedic skills and would benefit from experience in frailty. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical skill/knowledge and provide evidence within their continued professional development portfolio. Applicants must have good knowledge of orthopaedic best practice/clinical guidelines. This is an ideal position for a Band 5 with relevant clinical experience or a Band 6 wishing to continue their clinical development. As a band 6 the successful applicant will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students. You will have an active role in Clinical Governance, clinical effectiveness and service development. This post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
