KS3 Teacher (SEN - Subject Specialist, Autism Provision)

Purpose of the Role
The KS3 Subject Specialist Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, autism-informed teaching in Science to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs.
The post holder will adapt the KS3 curriculum to meet the individual needs of pupils in a small-class specialist setting, ensuring learning is accessible, meaningful, and ambitious while supporting pupils' communication, emotional regulation, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, adapted lessons.
* Adapt the KS3 curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with ASC and associated needs
* Use autism-specific and evidence-based approaches, including:
* Visual supports and structured teaching
* Clear routines and predictable lesson structures
* Sensory and regulation strategies
* Communication-supportive approaches
* Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Pupil Development & Wellbeing
* Implement positive behaviour and regulation strategies in line with the school's autism-informed approach
* Maintain high expectations for both learning and behaviour
* Ensure safeguarding and pupil welfare are always a priority
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Strong subject knowledge in Science
* Experience of teaching pupils in KS3
* Substantial experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ideally in a specialist or SEND setting
