Job Role: Project Delivery and Change Management
To lead the delivery of all projects and major improvements to stations and other SWR infrastructure, ensuring safety, contractual, regulatory, business, and customer needs are met as scoped by the business.
To provide strategic direction on project delivery, programme management, and change activity across the business.
This role would typically act as the Deputy to the Director of Projects and Change.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the delivery of the SWR projects capital works programme, as outlined in our Business Plan, through the various portfolio teams reporting to this post.
2. Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of projects in collaboration with Network Rail, adhering to a lowest whole life cost approach, best practices, and legal requirements.
3. Manage and direct project teams to achieve business and functional objectives, meet key performance indicators, and ensure project progress and risks are clearly reported.
4. Facilitate effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders to maximize service and project delivery benefits and realize added value from investments.
5. Develop and oversee procurement of contracts for goods and services necessary to meet business goals, working closely with all departments to shape project roadmaps and schedules.
6. Ensure value for money, monitor contract performance, and report on financial metrics.
7. Collaborate with other FirstGroup Rail businesses and FRH to maintain a consistent group approach to project delivery and management, leveraging economies from joint efforts.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Significant experience and professional qualification in programme and project management, including procurement, legislative frameworks, and health and safety, with senior management experience in railway construction environments.
2. Ability to influence change across organizational boundaries, bringing people together to deliver programs that meet business needs.
3. Knowledge of risk management tools and practices to mitigate delivery impacts.
4. Strong commercial acumen, including project budgeting and contract management experience.
5. Commitment to continuous improvement in project and change delivery.
6. Senior experience in managing people and resources.
7. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
About the Location:
South Western Railways HQ is located on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, near the River Thames and Waterloo Station, with access to attractions, restaurants, retail, and public transport.
Working Pattern:
Average of 37 hours per week over 5 days, with office hours and flexibility based on business needs, including on-call commitments.
