Job Overview
The Acute Medicine Therapy Team at the Royal Derby Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the team. You will collaborate closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Support Workers, providing treatment to patients across various units including Respiratory, High Dependency, Cardiology, Endocrine and Diabetes, and Gastro/Hepatology.
You will work under the supervision of qualified Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff, assisting in patient treatments which may involve activities of daily living, mobility, and respiratory therapy.
Additional Duties
There will be non-clinical responsibilities such as clerical and housekeeping tasks to support departmental efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team
* Basic proficiency in IT packages
* Recent hospital or community experience and moving and handling patients are essential
Personal Attributes
Motivated, organized, with a passion for patient recovery and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with functional activities of daily living, including dressing, domestic activities, and supervising exercises
* Prepare patients for treatment and help increase independence using daily living aids
* Recognize when to refer back to qualified therapists and identify signs of deterioration
* Communicate effectively with patients to obtain informed consent and assess understanding
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date treatment notes in line with legal requirements
