Offer description

We're looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we're proud to make a difference every day. At SPFT we put people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You'll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development. We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it's part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we'll explore what works for you and the role. We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you. We're shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we'd love to hear from you. Job overview If you're looking for flexibility while also becoming a valued, regular part of a highly skilled and compassionate forensic mental health team, we would love to hear from you. We are seeking Bank Support Workers to join us at the Hellingly Centre, our medium secure forensic inpatient service supporting adults with complex mental health needs who require care in a secure environment. Our service provides specialist assessment, therapeutic intervention and structured rehabilitation for individuals whose needs cannot be safely met in community settings. You will be joining a service rated "Good" by the CQC, and one that is committed to delivering safe, recovery-focused, trauma-informed care. Our aim is always to support people to progress safely through their secure care pathway and return to less restrictive environments as soon as possible. Although this is a bank role, we are particularly looking for people who can offer regular shifts, helping us provide consistent, relationship-based support, something that is central to helping our service users feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Responsibilities

* Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to deliver structured therapeutic and rehabilitative programmes.
* Support assessment of service users' needs and contribute to individualised care planning and risk management.
* Carry out delegated clinical duties safely and competently.
* Accurately record information and work within agreed plans.
* Help individuals build confidence, daily living skills and independence within a secure environment.
* Support service users with daily routines, meaningful activities and personal care where appropriate.

Qualifications

* Experience of working with people with mental health needs.
* Understanding of secure or risk-managed environments (desirable).
* Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including psychosis, personality disorder, schizophrenia or challenging behaviour.
* A calm, professional and compassionate approach.
* NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent experience.
* Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and mental health/Autism and or Challenging Behaviours.
* Experience of working as part of a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Successful candidates are normally appointed to the bottom of the pay scale unless previous NHS experience in a similar role can be evidenced.

Our service and wider Trust has been rated as 'Good' by the CQC and our aim is to help people return to the community as safely and as quickly as possible.

What We Offer

* A welcoming, supportive and knowledgeable team environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do.
* Training and development opportunities as you become a more integral part of the team.
* Opportunities to work flexibly while still building consistent relationships with service users.
* The chance to make a real difference to people's lives and see the impact of your support as individuals develop and move forward.
