About the Role
The Associate Director of Indigenous Perspectives will play a key role in integrating Indigenous knowledge and initiatives within the School of Medicine. This position involves building relationships with Indigenous communities, ensuring their perspectives are reflected in the curriculum and educational practices, and supporting Indigenous learners. The role includes developing strategies to enhance cultural safety and competence, mentoring staff, managing recruitment and training, and forming strategic partnerships with Indigenous organizations and institutions.
We seek a candidate with lived experience or deep understanding of Indigenous peoples in Canada, capable of fostering respectful relationships and guiding the incorporation of Indigenous perspectives into medical education and community engagement.
Qualifications
* Master's degree in Education or a related discipline, with at least seven years of experience in Indigenous educational programming, curriculum development, or Indigenous pedagogical methodologies within higher education.
* Strong knowledge of Indigenous knowledge systems, languages, cultures, protocols, and issues surrounding language revitalization.
* Excellent analytical, research, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
* Proven leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
