Our client is looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager to expand their presence within the municipal, fleet, and specialist vehicle sectors.
This is a strategic growth role focused on developing new revenue streams, building long-term customer relationships, and increasing market share across local government and major fleet operators. We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who already have strong connections within councils, highways, waste management, environmental services, vehicle fleets, or related sectors.
You'll be given the autonomy to develop your territory, identify opportunities, and create lasting partnerships with organisations operating large vehicle fleets.
Business Development Manager - Responsibilities
* Generate new business opportunities across municipal, fleet, and public sector customers.
* Develop relationships with fleet managers, procurement teams, workshop managers, transport managers, and operational decision-makers.
* Promote a range of aftermarket equipment, machinery, and support solutions.
* Create and execute territory development plans to maximise market penetration.
* Identify upcoming tenders, procurement opportunities, and fleet replacement programmes.
* Re-engage dormant accounts and strengthen existing customer relationships.
* Attend customer meetings, industry events, and trade exhibitions.
* Deliver sales presentations, proposals, and commercial quotations.
* Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
Business Development Manager - Skills & Experience
* Proven success in capital equipment, machinery, aftermarket products, commercial vehicles, fleet services, or related technical sales environments.
* Strong understanding of how councils, local authorities, and public sector organisations purchase equipment and services.
* Existing network within fleet operations, municipal services, highways, waste management, transport, or related industries.
* Demonstrable ability to secure new business and develop strategic accounts.
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
* Self-motivated with the ability to manage a field-based sales territory.
* Full UK driving licence.
