Salary:
Starting from £88,251 (range depends on experience)

About IPSD:
Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The Opportunity:
IPSD is recruiting a Trade Compliance Manager to manage the division's import and export compliance programs across a global operation. The role requires deep expertise in trade compliance and a passion for leading the division’s compliance efforts.
What you will do:
* Lead and manage the development, implementation and maintenance of import and export compliance policies and procedures.
* Promote best practices across global sites, establishing regional and functional councils.
* Develop and deliver a strategic programme to build capability across business process, data and technology solutions.
* Oversee all import and export activities to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, consulting with legal and subject matter experts.
* Develop and execute risk assessments of import and export compliance programs.
* Conduct training on government laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to organisational products, services and technologies.
* Partner with the business on the operational execution of global trade requirements with functional areas.
* Support global sites in managing outsourced operations with brokers/transport providers and duty management solutions.
* Support division with robust talent development and succession planning for trade-based roles.
* Engage proactively with internal business partners (Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain & Aftermarket) to ensure clarity and direction on trade compliance.
What You Have:
* Trade Reporting: Knowledge and ability to implement trade reporting practices, processes, technologies, and controls.
* Import/Export – MFG: Knowledge of issues, procedures, tools and practices of importing and exporting.
* International Trade: Knowledge of the markets, issues, regulations, practices and operations of international trade.
* Operational Functions: Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements.
* Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis.
* Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating and resolving organisational problems.
* Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques.
What will set you apart:
* Progressive experience in operational trade compliance running import/export functions within multinational organisations.
* Competent skills in global imports, exports, export controls, duty drawback & suspension.
* Passion for trade compliance and ability to engage teams and create enthusiasm.
* Proven leadership capability in direct and indirect business functions.
* Excellent communication skills – able to distil complex trade matters for varied audiences.
* Ability to discern regulatory nuance and technicalities and their impact on a complex, global business.
* Excellent risk awareness and judgement.
* Proven portfolio management – drive change within cross‑functional teams.
* Familiarity with software deployments or trade management / ERP systems.
* Must be intellectually curious with a capability to learn and create logical reference frameworks.
Additional Information:
* Locations being considered: Peterborough (UK), Peoria (IL), Irving (TX), Schertz (TX) (please apply to the relevant post for your chosen location)
* Relocation: Domestic relocation considered for those that qualify.
* Travel: Potentially international and domestic travel up to 25‑50% of time.
* Office Base: When not travelling, this role will be based from the office 5 days per week.
