Continuous Improvement Manager, Navy. Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology and is transforming the industry towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Ltd (WDSL) is part of Wärtsilä Marine Business and provides integrated shaftline systems, packages and products for lifecycle efficiency, reduced costs and environmental sustainability. The role is based in Havant, Hampshire, United Kingdom, on a permanent basis.
As our business grows, we are seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager for the Navy Value Stream to develop end-to-end processes that efficiently serve our customers’ needs. You will set up CI practices, act as a training facilitator and CI coach.
Responsibilities
* Lead improvement initiatives within our Navy business and across Wärtsilä globally as part of the global Wärtsilä Shaft Line Solutions CI team
* Coach the organisation on CI to embed it into daily business
* Participate in deploying growth strategy through executable action plans
* Lead CI work within the Navy Value Stream using the Wärtsilä CI framework
* Perform value stream mapping and analysis
* Launch improvement initiatives across manufacturing sites and the global sales and service organisation to increase customer satisfaction and optimise operations
* Drive continuous improvement of the value stream with WDSL Management Team through KPIs and stakeholder dialogue

* Proven experience growing an organisation to embed continuous improvement in culture
* High cultural awareness and experience leading initiatives in a multinational environment
* Experience with a wide range of CI methods applicable to different contexts
* Ability to collaborate across production, office, site work and other areas of the organisation
* Comfort with constant change
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong conceptual, analytical and critical thinking skills
* Systems thinking as a basis for improvements
* Practical solutions mindset and proactive initiative
* Diplomatic in energising and persuading needed efforts across functions
* Willingness to travel on occasion
* Understanding of the navy market is an advantage
The job is offered subject to successfully obtaining security clearance. Applicants must hold a British Passport or be eligible to hold one and have resided in the UK continuously for the last 5 years.
