Location: Thurso, Scotland (Onsite, Full-Time)
Contract Length: 12 months
Salary: £16.23–£20.79/hour PAYE | £22.27–£28.53/hour Umbrella
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Health Physics Surveyor to join our site services team. The role involves monitoring workplaces, equipment, and transit items to assess radiation levels and contamination, ensuring safe operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct radiological surveys and report monitoring results in a timely manner following defined procedures.
* Identify potential issues and provide advice and recommendations to support safe operations.
* Assess and improve health physics procedures, updating documentation as needed.
* Perform radiological monitoring and issue clearance certificates with accurate reporting.
* Select appropriate radiological instruments based on radiation type and work environment.
* Troubleshoot and maintain radiological protection equipment.
* Manage dosimetry for entry into controlled high-radiation areas.
* Handle air and duct sample filter changes and perform activity measurements.
* Work safely in alpha, beta, and gamma radiation-controlled areas.
* Mentor and support trainee surveyors.
* Participate in shift work and emergency response teams as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Relevant experience in health physics monitoring or radiation safety.
* City and Guilds in Radiation Safety Practice Level 1 or NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Safety (or equivalent recognized qualification).
* SC Security Clearance.
Additional Information:
* Candidates will need to complete any required certifications before joining (guidance and support provided).
* Travel & subsistence allowance available for travel outside normal commuting distance.
* Pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol testing and DBS checks are required at the candidate’s expense.
