The New Part Introduction (NPI) Engineer will be instrumental in the transition of new and modified products from design through to production. This role encompasses the industrialization of design changes for existing products, the introduction of new products into our manufacturing operations, and ensuring robust configuration control. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including commercial, purchasing, and operations to facilitate seamless product introductions and enhancements.
Responsibilities
* Industrialization of Design Changes
o Evaluate and implement design changes for existing products to improve manufacturability and performance.
o Develop and document manufacturing processes, work instructions, and quality assurance protocols for design changes.
o Coordinate cross‑departmental input to ensure changes meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
* New Product Introduction
o Lead the transition of new products from the design phase through to production, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
o Develop detailed project plans that include risk assessments, resources, timelines, and budget considerations.
o Oversee prototype builds, pilot runs, and production ramp‑up to full‑scale manufacturing.
* Configuration Control
o Establish and manage configuration control processes to ensure product consistency and traceability.
o Maintain documentation and records relating to product designs, revisions, and manufacturing changes.
o Ensure all stakeholders are informed of configuration changes and understand their implications.
* Stakeholder Liaison
o Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure product specifications align with customer requirements.
o Work closely with purchasing to select materials and components that meet technical and cost requirements.
o Coordinate with operations to integrate new products and process improvements into the production environment efficiently.
* Continuous Improvement
o Analyse and evaluate manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement.
o Propose and implement process optimisations based on data‑driven insights.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in product engineering, preferably in the aerospace sector or a similar regulated business sector.
* Experience with configuration management and documentation systems.
* Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Skills
* Experience with APQP process.
* Experience with PPAP industrialisation process.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
* Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements in aerospace manufacturing or a similarly regulated business sector.
